Anti-technical writing
Q. Do you need a technical writer? Or do you need an anti-technical writer. A what?
A. An anti-technical writer takes the “tech” out of copy and explains it clearly, concisely, to audiences from different backgrounds. For instance
- You manage the computers for hundreds of people, and you write manuals telling people how to approach their desktop on Monday morning. Do you want the info in technical language – or in common English that everyone understands?
- You perform surgery and need to explain narcolepsy, nasal prostheses or Necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum to scared patients. Do you want the info in technical language – or in common English that everyone understands?
- You manufacture dangerous chemicals and need to write anti-technical explanations of the risks to potential truckers. Do you want the info in technical language – or in common English that everyone understands?
My bet is that you want anti-tech writing to explain your expertise to clients and customers in different areas. I have written anti-technical copy for
- Arkema/Atofina/Elf Atochem.
- Bala Consulting Engineers.
- Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll.
- Campbell Soup Company.
- Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital.
- O’Donnell & Naccarato.
Please let me know if I can help you write anti-technical material about your business, industry or specialty. Or teach you how to write it.

“Susan did an excellent job of explaining a very complicated and somewhat boring process
and did so in an interesting, readable way.”
